The press secretary starts off the conference with some announcements including that the President will soon welcome the president of El Salvador to discuss further cooperation with the country and their supermax prisons. This could signal more unprecedented deportations to El Salvador by the President. Then, Leavitt continues by announcing the Supreme Court's decision to uphold Trump’s use of the Alien Enemies Act to deport immigrants. Further, the press secretary touches on the work of the President and other Congress members to pass unprecedented tax breaks in “one beautiful bill.” The effects of such tax cuts remain to be seen and for whom they will also be unclear. While answering questions, Leavitt responds to and works to quell fears of a recession by stating that once the whole of the administration’s economic plans are enacted, there will be no threat of recession. To answer the question about American citizens who could be deported to El Salvador, the press secretary justifies it by labeling them as “heinous” criminals and the administration is currently searching for a way for them to legally take such action.
